The Consulate General of India in Erbil organized a business delegation to the Kurdistan Region from the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) for business-to-business (B2B) meetings with Kurdish businessmen.

India’s Consulate General on June 1 invited Kurdish businessmen to join the B2B meetings on June 4 at the Radisson Hotel, Erbil, and on June 6 at the Grand Millennium Hotel, Sulaymaniyah.

“On 03.06.2024 @IndiaInErbil organised a B2B meeting with FIEO delegates and the members of Erbil Chambers of Commerce and Industry,” India’s Consulate General posted on X on June 4.

“Meeting surrounds strengthening the ties and exploring new opportunities for trade and mutual growth of India and Kurdistan Region.”

On 4 June, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with India’s Ambassador to Iraq Prashant Pise.

The Prime Minister’s office in a readout said they discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and India during the meeting. Ambassador Pise emphasized India’s desire to strengthen ties with the region, particularly in trade, health, education, energy, and technology.

He also noted that a trade delegation from India is currently in the Kurdistan Region to advance these efforts.

Prime Minister Barzani echoed this sentiment, expressing the Kurdistan Region’s strong interest in further developing relations with India.
