The Digital School, a program launched by the UAE’s Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has initiated a new phase of its partnership with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), aiming to empower 100,000 students in the Kurdistan Region with advanced digital educational services within three years, Emirates News Agency reports.

To support this initiative, a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence Omar Al Olama and KRG Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed Saleh. UAE Consul General to the Kurdistan Region Ahmed Al Dhaheri was also present at the ceremony.

The new phase aims to reach 100,000 students and beneficiaries, train 1,500 digital teachers, develop a digital education platform in the Kurdish language, enhance the region’s official educational curriculum by transforming it into interactive digital content, and establish 100 digital education spaces within 50 schools.

Additionally, the initiative aims to provide digital education tools, including more than 1,650 computers and projectors, to facilitate effective learning environments.

On January 18, 2022, the Digital School signed an MOU with the KRG Ministry of Education to implement digital school programs and enhance cooperation in digital learning in the region.

The Digital School is a project initiated by UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that aims to provide students with digital learning options in areas where resources for education are unavailable.

During the MoU ceremony UAE Minister Olama asserted that empowering students in the Kurdistan Region with advanced educational opportunities is a fundamental goal of the partnership and enhances the quality and outcomes of education in the Kurdistan Region to keep pace with the rapid changes witnessed by the education sector globally.

Moreover, KRG Minister of Education Saleh stated that he appreciated the positive role of the Digital School’s initiatives in developing the education sector in the Kurdistan Region.
