The American Chamber of Commerce Kurdistan on Monday hosted the U.S. Chamber of Commerce delegation to the Kurdistan Region, which includes representatives of 30 U.S. companies and is headed by Steve Lutes, the Executive Director of Middle East Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The business delegation is certified by the U.S. government.

U.S. Consul General to Erbil Wendy Green expressed her appreciation in a post on X for the KRG’s warm welcome to the U.S. business representatives. “The U.S.-IKR (Iraqi Kurdistan Region) commercial relationship is strong and open to American companies.”

“ I’ve only been here 30 days as of today, but in my heart, it already feels like 30 years because Kurdistan has given me a warm welcome and I just feel at home here every day,” Consul General Green said during the event.

“ I want to thank the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for organizing this trade delegation. It is monumental and it is a real statement about the future of the U.S.-Kurdistan Region relationship as we move forward.”

“The U.S. Department of Commerce has recognized this trade delegation, which is really important because it goes to show how much of a commitment the United States has in building the relationships between here and Washington, D.C.,” she added.

“This dynamic region is hungry for U.S. investment and products, and you all are well placed as a part of this trade mission to make the connections that you need to feed that hunger,” Consul General Green said, addressing U.S. companies. “For several of you, this is not your first venture here in Kurdistan, and I want you to share with your fellow delegates why it is that you continue to come back to this place and spend your time, your money, and your energy to build new investments.

“Our administration in Washington really aims to increase U.S. economic empowerment and prosperity by lifting up U.S. businesses and exporters to compete and secure deals globally. Wherever U.S. companies can compete on a level playing field, they absolutely succeed.”

She also underlined that supporting these commercial efforts and ensuring fair partnerships for Americans and U.S. businesses will remain one of the top priorities of the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Representation in the United States thanked the American Chamber of Commerce Kurdistan for hosting the US business delegation on X.

During the event, KRG Minister of Interior Reber Ahmed highlighted the enduring strength of the Kurdistan-U.S. partnership.

“I emphasized [Prime Minister] Masrour Barzani’s message that Kurdistan is a reliable partner, secure, and open for business. I also assured investors that the KRG is committed, and their investments will be protected,” he posted on X.

Furthermore, Safeen Dizayee, Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations, posted on X that the KRG’s policies are committed to fostering a supportive business climate, building stronger partnerships with the United States, and encouraging diverse international investment.
