On September 29, B Vanille will join other European brand finalists to attend the European Natural Beauty Awards (ENBA) ceremony in Paris. The ENBAs are among the most respected honors in the clean beauty industry.
B Vanille, the ethical skincare brand founded by Kurdish-British microbiologist Dr. Banaz Star-Shirko, has been officially shortlisted for the 2025 ENBA. The brand’s leading product, Roza Oil, was selected from over 1,200 entries across Europe.
The product is formulated with antioxidant-rich botanicals and is certified by Oxford Biosciences, reflecting B Vanille’s dedication to scientific integrity and ethical transparency. The ENBA jury, comprising 100 experts from 36 countries, recognized Roza Oil for its purity, efficacy, and commitment to sustainability.
“This recognition affirms our belief that skincare can be both luxurious and responsible,” Dr. Star-Shirko told Kurdistan Chronicle. “B Vanille was born from a desire to protect health, celebrate nature, and honor the values of inclusivity and care,” she added.

Dr. Star-Shirko, a former Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, whose research focused on food safety and foodborne diseases, discussed with Kurdistan Chronicle how Kurdish communities have long used oils from plants like sage and sea lavender for healing, soothing inflammation, calming the mind, and caring for the skin. “These oils were part of everyday rituals, teas, poultices, and spiritual practices passed down through generations.
