Kurda Award for Economics 2025 Winners Announced

The Kurdistan Organization for Development (KOD) on Monday announced the winners of the Kurda Award for Economics 2025, recognizing outstanding young scholars for their innovative contributions to economic research and policy thinking in the Kurdistan Region.

The Kurda Award for Economics was officially launched in July by the KOD in collaboration with the Consulate of South Korea, Kurdistan Chronicle, and Shingelbana Resort. The goal of the award is to promote academic engagement and innovative thinking among university students.

First place was awarded to Abdukareemm Manhal from Salahaddin University, while second place went to Mahi Abdulrahman and Rosa Hiwa, both from the American University of Sulaymaniyah (AUIS). Third place was shared by Somaya Khalil of Zakho University, Tara Mohammed of the American University of Kurdistan, and Sobhan Ali of AUIS.

“We extend our warmest congratulations to all the winners for their excellent contributions, innovative ideas, and commitment to advancing economic thinking in the Kurdistan Region,” the Kurda Award for Economics 2025 said in a press release.

“We also sincerely thank all participants, evaluators, and partners who supported this year’s competition. Your efforts have made the Kurda Award a true platform for learning, innovation, and collaboration.”
