The Duhok Football Club, also known as the Mountain Hawks, won the 2025 Iraq FA Cup Final on Friday, winning the match against Zakho SC 5-3.

“I congratulate both teams, Duhok and Zakho, for achieving first and second place in the Iraq Cup, and I wish continued success for both clubs. It’s important that Kurdistan wins,” Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani posted on X.

In Baghdad’s al-Shaab International Stadium, the Duhok and Zakho teams – both from the Kurdistan Region – competed for the first and second places.

The Duhok club has never won the Iraq Cup Final title before.

“A thousand congratulations to Duhok Sports Club for winning the Iraq Championship Cup at Al-Shaab International Stadium in Baghdad, defeating its fellow Kurdish club Zakho,” senior Kurdistan Democratic Party official and former Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs Hoshyar Zebari posted on X.

“Kurdish clubs are competing for the Iraqi championship in the heart of Baghdad – and winning it. Is there any greater proof of the Kurds’ patriotism, their attachment to their country, and their high sportsmanship?”

In April, Duhok SC had another success winning the Gulf Club Champions League after defeating the Kuwaiti club al-Qadsia 2-1.
