The Association of the Petroleum Industry of Kurdistan (APIKUR), which represents several international oil companies in the Kurdistan Region, on Friday repeated their call to resume oil exports as soon as possible.
“APIKUR member companies reiterate our desire to immediately resume exports through the Iraq-Turkiye pipeline (ITP), as soon as written agreements are in place,” APIKUR said in a post on X.
“For months, we have agreed to coordinate oil exports through the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO). We propose that international oil companies (IOCs) receive their oil entitlement in-kind at Ceyhan. This arrangement will ensure all parties receive their entitlements in the most transparent and efficient manner possible within our contractual terms.”

On Wednesday, APIKUR had called for the resumption of oil exports, underlining that “resuming exports through the ITP adds 300,000+ barrels to the international market.”
“We have remained in continuous dialogue with officials in Baghdad, including Iraq’s Ministry of Oil and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Natural Resources. Discussions are ongoing about the region’s capabilities regarding oil exports,” KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani told reporters on Wednesday.
Last Thursday, a high-level delegation from the Iraqi federal government, including the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Oil, and the SOMO, visited Erbil to discuss the oil exports and the resumption of salary payments to the Kurdistan Region.
An Iraqi delegation is also set to meet with representatives of IOCs operating in the Kurdistan Region this Saturday.
In May, Iraq’s federal Ministry of Finance decided to suspend the salaries of public employees in the Kurdistan Region for this year, leading to strong condemnations by Kurdish officials.
