Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday bid farewell to Fuad al-Majali, the outgoing Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Kurdistan Region, and also received India’s new Consul General in Erbil.
In a readout, Prime Minister Barzani thanked Consul General al-Majali for his efforts in strengthening bilateral relations during his tenure and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Prime Minister Barzani also reaffirmed the close and friendly relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan and conveyed his gratitude for the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II toward the Kurdistan Region.
Consul General al-Majali praised the achievements of the KRG, particularly the reforms of the Ninth Cabinet across various sectors. He also thanked KRG institutions for their cooperation throughout his assignment.
Consul General al-Majali posted on X that he thanked “His Excellency for his positions and support in strengthening Jordanian-Kurdistani relations and for facilitating my work.”

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kurdistan Region share strong historical ties and a longstanding friendship across the educational, political, trade, and economic fields.
Also on Sunday, Prime Minister Barzani received India’s new Consul General Brijesh Kumar, congratulated him on assuming his post, and reaffirmed the KRG’s full support for the success of his mission.
Consul General Kumar reiterated his country’s desire to further strengthen bilateral relations across various sectors, particularly in investment, trade, and healthcare.
The two officials also discussed the Indian community in the Kurdistan Region, with the Consul General expressing his government’s appreciation for the KRG’s cooperation and facilitation of their needs.
