On Friday, June 13, Kurdistan Chronicle joined a two-week seminar on New Media Management Leaders under the Global Civilization Initiative in Changsha, Hunan Province, China.
Organized by the Hunan International Business Vocational College under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the seminar includes 31 participants from 11 countries, including Riband Saadallah representing Kurdistan Chronicle.
Until June 26, university professors and Chinese media leaders are set to talk about China’s experience in poverty alleviation, the current national condition, and the new media era.
On the sidelines of the seminar, the participants have the chance to visit national TV channels, prominent media organizations, and leading publications in China to discuss their experiences and exchange ideas on journalism.
Saadallah, a seasoned journalist, engaged with peers on how economic development can not only improve people’s livelihood, but also help advance peace in regions such as the Middle East.
“For us in the Kurdistan Region, with our relatively small population, it’s quite striking to see how a nation of 1.4 billion people has managed to tackle poverty in such a short time,” Riband said. “I believe there is much we can learn – and even more we can collaborate on.”
