Kurdistan Presidency Condemns Israel’s Attack on Iran

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Friday, June 13, condemned Israel’s attack on Iran.

“We condemn the Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran and the use of military force in escalating tensions. Such actions only further destabilize peace and stability in the region and pose a threat to regional and international security,” the Kurdistan Region Presidency said.

“Resorting to confrontation and military measures will only worsen the situation. In these sensitive times, the international community has a responsibility to act swiftly and decisively to prevent further escalation and to work towards containing the crisis as quickly as possible.”

On Thursday night, Israel launched a large-scale assault on Iran, assassinating several top Iranian military leaders and six nuclear scientists. Israeli attacks are ongoing, while Iran has responded with drone attacks.

Earlier this week, the Pentagon ordered the withdrawal of non-essential U.S. personnel from embassies in Iraq, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

Before Israel’s attack, Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi on Thursday said the sixth round of the U.S.-Iran nuclear talks will be held on Sunday in Muscat, although the progress of those talks has now been put in jeopardy.

U.S. President Donald Trump on his social media platform Truth Social underlined that he had given Iran a chance to make a deal. “Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire,” he said.
