On Monday, June 2, the University of Kurdistan Hewler’s (UKH) Center for Environmental Studies (CES) and the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during a ceremony attended by Bertrille Snoeijer, Deputy Consul-General of the Netherlands in Erbil.
In a press release the UKH said that “the newly formalized collaboration between UKH and IHE Delft sets the stage for deeper academic engagement, capacity building, and shared research.”
The CES is currently conducting a joint research project in the Nineveh Plains in collaboration with the University of Duhok to raise awareness about water quality and management in the area.
This joint research project received €100,000 in funding from IHE Delft.
On June 3, IHE Delft also signed a MoU with Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to promote water education and diplomacy.
