On Thursday, May 29, the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) Central Committee warned that it will take a firm stance if Baghdad fails to send salaries to the Kurdistan Region before the Islamic Eid al-Adha holiday in early June.
“We inform the public of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region that the federal government continues to violate the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region. The recent written directive by the Ministry of Finance is also unconstitutional and contradicts the foundational principles of the government formation agreement,” the KDP said.

The Iraqi Ministry of Finance has refused to disburse salaries to the Kurdistan Region, claiming it has already fulfilled its full budgetary obligations to the Kurdistan Regional Government for 2025.
“This is an attempt to politicise people’s livelihoods. We will discuss this issue at the next meeting of our party’s central committee on June 2, 2025,” the KDP stated.
“If the financial rights and entitlements of the people of the Kurdistan Region are not sent before the blessed Eid al-Adha, we will adopt a firm position and make it known.”
