Canada in the past provided training to the Kurdish peshmerga forces against ISIS.
While Canada closed its office in Erbil in April, it has continued its diplomatic engagements with the KRG through the Canadian embassy in Baghdad.

For instance, on March 20, Canada’s Ambassador to Iraq Christopher Boehm participated in the Newroz celebrations in Akre, the capital of Newroz in the Kurdistan Region.
