Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Amman on Sunday afternoon and explored opportunities for increased collaboration in the fields of politics, economy, and security.
According to a press readout from the Kurdistan Regional Presidency, President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the support extended by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and praised the longstanding relationship and camaraderie between the two nations.

Furthermore, King Abdullah II reaffirmed his country’s commitment to enhancing relations and cooperation with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and emphasized Jordan’s dedication to supporting initiatives that promote security, stability, and prosperity across the region.
Both leaders underlined the importance of joint efforts to uphold stability and peace in the region, while addressing a range of issues of mutual interest.

The Royal Hashemite Court said in a post on X that the meeting covered the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Iraq, as well as “ways to enhance cooperation with the Kurdistan Region in various sectors.”

The meeting coincides with the visit of Ahmed Safadi, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Jordan, to the Kurdistan Region.
According to the KRG readout, in a meeting with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Safadi expressed his pleasure at visiting the Kurdistan Region and praised its development and prosperity.

During the visit to Jordan, President Nechirvan Barzani also held a meeting with Ayman Safadi, Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which he conveyed his gratitude for the strong ties between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Jordan.
