Duhok SC on Tuesday night was crowned the Gulf Club Champions League winner after defeating the Kuwaiti club al-Qadsia 2-1, sparking huge celebrations in the Kurdistan Region.
“A warm congratulations to the players of Duhok, the people of Duhok city, and the Kurdistan Region in general for winning the Gulf Club Champions Cup,” Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani posted on X after attending the finals in Duhok.
“This great victory is a source of pride for all of us. I wish continued success for all sports teams in the Kurdistan Region.”

The tournament was created by the Gulf Cooperation Council and the first championship took place in 1982.
This year marks the first time Duhok SC is playing in this championship.
