March 10 marks National Costume Day, where people in the Kurdistan Region, including students from different religious and ethnic communities, don traditional attire to celebrate and honor their cultural heritage.
The day was introduced in 2010 by former KRG Minister of Education Safeen Dizayee, who currently serves as Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations.
“We celebrated National Costume Day, embracing our rich and diverse cultural heritage,” Dizayee posted on X.
He also said he honored his “female staff on Women’s Day by presenting each of them a rose, recognizing their contributions and invaluable role in our work.”
Several diplomatic missions in the Kurdistan Region also marked the event by sharing posts featuring their staff in traditional Kurdish clothing, including the Italian, Dutch, and UK consulates, as well as the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq.
