KRG Prime Minister Meets Top Leaders in Davos

On Tuesday, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani wrapped up a day of high-level meetings with global leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.



The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring economic collaboration.

Prime Minister Barzani had meetings with leaders from several countries including Qatar, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Belgium.



During Prime Minister Barzani’s meeting with Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo they discussed strengthening trade and economic ties.

“I thanked him for Belgium’s support, and we exchanged views on the Kurdistan Region’s constitutional rights and regional developments,” he posted on X.


Prime Minister Barzani also met with a delegation from Bahrain led by Sheikh Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“They discussed enhancing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for cooperation in finance, commerce, and other sectors,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X.



Furthermore, Prime Minister Barzani met with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

“We highlighted the historic relationship between the Kurdish people and Azerbaijan. I emphasized the importance of deepening our bilateral relations across all sectors.”



Additionally, Prime Minister Barzani met with Mohammad Abdullah al-Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the UAE.

“We discussed strengthening economic ties, trade transformation, and e-governance,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X. “We also explored ways to draw from the UAE’s expertise to advance the Kurdistan Region’s economic development and human capital.”



In his meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, they discussed “bilateral relations, the situation in Iraq and Syria, and the need for security, stability, and protection of the rights of all communities in the region.”

On Monday, January 20, Prime Minister Barzani arrived in Switzerland to participate in the WEF 2025 Annual Meeting, held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, from January 20-24.

On his first day at the WEF, Prime Minister Barzani inaugurated the Kurdistan House in Davos, hoping that the platform would become a hub for business owners to find investment opportunities in Kurdistan.
