KRG PM Meets Jordan’s King to Strengthen Regional Ties

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday, January 19, arrived in Amman, capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and was received by King Abdullah II.

Grateful for the warm hospitality of His Majesty King Abdullah II in Amman,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X. “We discussed ways to deepen cooperation and support lasting peace and stability in the region.”

According to a readout from the KRG, both leaders discussed enhancing relations between Jordan and the Kurdistan Region and explored opportunities to expand collaboration across various sectors.

King Abdullah II also conveyed his greetings and regards to President Masoud Barzani.

Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering friendly relations between Jordan, the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq across all sectors.

The Kurdistan Region and Jordan share a strong relationship, built on mutual interests in trade, investment, health, and education.

In recent years, ties have deepened through initiatives such as the Jordanian-Kurdish health forum, economic delegations, and the establishment of a joint business council. 

Jordanian companies participate actively in Kurdistan’s IT sector.

Prime Minister Barzani commended the efforts of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.

Regarding the situation in Syria, both leaders reiterated that security and stability in Syria are essential for regional stability. They also stressed the importance of maintaining the Gaza ceasefire and achieving lasting peace across the region.
