Former Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stated in a message in Kurdish and Turkish on X that the visit of Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani to Turkiye and his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a “timely step”.

“In the face of imperial powers that are currently attempting to create chaos in our region, it is essential that we maintain strong dialogue and solidarity with our Syrian and Iraqi Kurdish brothers, who have been our historical and fateful companions for thousands of years,” he posted on X.

“The process of achieving peace in the Middle East can only be built through genuine dialogue and cooperation!”

Prime Minister Barzani on Tuesday met with Turkish officials in Ankara during an official visit to discuss recent developments in Syria and Iraq.

During the meeting between Prime Minister Barzani and President Erdogan, emphasis was placed on the importance of resolving the issues between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government of Iraq based on the constitution and removing obstacles to the export of Kurdistan’s oil.

“I am pleased to meet with President Erdogan in Ankara today. We discussed ways to promote dialogue and a common understanding to navigate through the developments in the Middle East, including in Syria,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X on January 7.

Davutoglu visited the Kurdistan Region in November and met with Prime Minister Barzani on November 24, 2024.
