President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday stressed his support for the cause of the Kurdish people in Syria and the necessity of unifying positions among the Kurdish parties.
According to a readout of the Barzani Headquarters, President Barzani underlined that the interests of the Kurdish people in Syria should be taken into account, and dialogue and peaceful means should be adopted to resolve differences.

President Barzani said this during a meeting with the Kurdish National Council.
This comes amid an initiative by the French and the United States to bring Kurdish parties together in Syria.

President Barzani on December 15 also welcomed a statement by Syria’s de facto leader, Ahmad al-Sharaa, after the fall of the Assad regime, in which he described the Kurdish people as part of the homeland and partners in the future of Syria.
