On his first visit to the Kurdistan Region, Jan Snaidauf, the new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Iraq, met with several senior Kurdish officials to discuss recent developments in Iraq, Syria, and the broader region.
According to a readout from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the officials “discussed strengthening bilateral relations and the importance of forming the new KRG cabinet without delay.”
Ambassador Snaidauf reaffirmed his country’s desire to further develop relations with the Kurdistan Region across different sectors.

In a separate meeting, he also met with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, who expressed his and the Kurdistan Region’s support for the success of the Ambassador’s mission.
According to a readout from the Kurdistan Region Presidency, the newly appointed Czech Ambassador conveyed his delight in visiting the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the significance his country places on its relationship with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
He underscored the commitment to enhancing their collaboration across various sectors.
Additionally, President Masoud Barzani welcomed Ambassador Snaidauf in a meeting that was also attended by Karl Kortanek, the Consul General of the Czech Republic in Erbil.

According to a readout from the Barzani Headquarters, Ambassador Snaidauf conveyed his hopes for the success of ongoing political dialogue among Kurdish parties to form a new cabinet for the KRG.
President Masoud Barzani emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship between the KRG and the Czech Republic, noting the readiness of both sides to further enhance ties in various fields.
He also expressed his hopes for the success of Ambassador Snaidauf’s tenure and highlighted the long-standing historical relations between the Kurdish and Czech peoples, wishing for these relations to continue to grow stronger.
