The 11th edition of the Duhok Film Festival will take place from December 9 to December 16, spanning eight days in Duhok, with a special focus on sports and India as the spotlight country.
“The opening ceremony will take place tomorrow, where we warmly welcome our special guests, juries, and selection committee. Among our esteemed participants is Egyptian actress Elham Shahein,” Hassan Aref, the film festival’s spokesperson, told Kurdistan Chronicle.

“This edition of the festival features 107 films in total, with 46 films in the Kurdish section and 61 films in the national section. Our team has chosen to focus on sports themes, with India as the spotlight country for this year’s edition,” he added.
According to the official website of the Duhok Film Festival, the festival focuses on the special bond between sports and cinema. “Both cinema and sports have a major influence on shaping the lifestyle of individuals,” the website of the festival reads.
Every year, the Duhok International Film Festival features several film categories that accept films from all over the world, including Kurdish and international films.

The festival also plays a leading role in promoting the Kurdistan Region and the city of Duhok.
