The U.S-led Coalition in a post on X said that the U.S. 3rd Security Force Assistance Brigade and the peshmerga reviewed ongoing projects to help partner forces improve unilateral operations in the Kurdistan Region.
“These efforts and collaborations with the peshmerga contribute to a future without ISIS,” it posted on X.

The peshmerga has been one of the most important allies for the United States in the war against ISIS, and the United States Army has provided weapons, training, and support to the peshmerga forces.
On August 6, the United States provided howitzer cannons to the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs (MoPA) during a ceremony.

A renewed non-binding memorandum of understanding signed by the U.S. Department of Defense and the MoPA in 2022 committed to providing support to the peshmerga.
