Asya Kemal Ceto, a Yezidi woman from Sinjar who was abducted by ISIS members in 2014 – when she was 15 years old – was recently liberated and returned to her family.

“After 10 years under the oppression and darkness of terrorists, today, with the help of the office for the rescue of kidnapped individuals, another Yezidi girl has been freed and brought into the light of life with joy,” Kurdistan Regional Government Kidnapped Yezidi Rescue Office Director Hussein al-Qadi wrote in a post on Facebook on Tuesday.

“About three months ago we learned that this woman was in another country. Our office communicated with the relevant authorities in that country and, thank God, after much effort, we were able to free her,” al-Qadi told Kurdistan Chronicle.

He also added that “the total of liberated people has reached 3,583 as of now."
