On August 25, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani welcomed Jordan’s Minister of Agriculture Khalid Mousa Al-Hneifat and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of enhancing agricultural cooperation.
In the first phase of the agreement, Jordan plans to import some agricultural products from the region, including potatoes.
The Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are bound together by a shared history and friendship.

“The Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are bound together by a shared history and friendship,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X after signing the memorandum.
“Today’s MoU between our agriculture ministries will strengthen trade and commerce between our peoples.”

Jordan’s Consul General in Erbil Fuad Khazer Al-Majali also commented on the signed memorandum in a post on X, adding that Minister Al-Hneifat “met with agricultural production companies. There are broad prospects for agricultural cooperation between the two countries.”

Minister Al-Hneifat conveyed the greetings and respect of King Abdullah II of Jordan to Prime Minister Barzani and highlighted the deep and strong relations between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan. He also praised the progress and development in Erbil and the Kurdistan Region.
Additionally, Prime Minister Barzani expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the continued support of King Abdullah II, the government, and the people of Jordan, who have backed the Kurdistan Region during various stages. He also affirmed the readiness of the KRG to further develop bilateral relations.
