London School of Economics Holds Kurdish Studies Conference

The Kurdish Studies Conference will be held at the London School of Economics (LSE) Middle East Center and the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Sheffield in the UK on May 22-23, 2024.

This interdisciplinary event marks the sixth anniversary of the establishment of the Kurdish Studies Series at the LSE Middle East Center.

The Kurdish Studies Series encourages dissemination and discussion of new research on Kurdish politics and society and provides a network for scholars, students, and all others with related research interests.

This interdisciplinary event builds on the inaugural conference held at LSE on April 24-25, 2023.

Over the past six years, the series has hosted 19 public events, published nine monographs, and edited a number of volumes as part of the academic publisher I.B. Tauris/Bloomsbury’s Kurdish Studies Series.

According to I.B. Tauris/Bloomsbury, the Kurdish Studies Series encourages further innovative and accessible research on the Kurds in order to contribute to scholarly and public understanding.

Deputy Director of the LSE Middle East Center Robert Lowe told Kurdistan Chronicle that “the Kurdish Studies Conference is being held to promote new research into Kurdish politics and society. We are delighted that this important field has greatly expanded in recent years and we want to support scholars to disseminate and discuss their work.”

“The conference also serves as a great networking opportunity for academics, students and anyone interested in Kurdish studies,” he said.
