Akre Wins Kurdistan Premier League Game

On April 15, in the final round of the Kurdistan Premier League, Akre Sport Club (SC) became the league champion for the first time in the club’s history.

The city of Akre is also known as the capital of Newroz, and every year large Kurdish New Year celebrations are held in the city.

Akre SC secured their victory in the last round of the Kurdistan Premier League by drawing 0-0 against Chawarqurna SC.

Their victory was sealed by the outcome of the match between Peshmerga Hawler SC and Sherwana SC, which also ended in a 0-0 deadlock.

This historic win marks Akre’s first championship victory in the Kurdistan Premier League.

Thousands of fans traveled from Akre to Chwarqurna in Sulaymaniyah Governorate. Fans celebrated the news in Akre with fireworks. 

Akre fans stayed in the football stadium for several hours after the match to celebrate their victory.

Throughout the season, Akre SC amassed a total of 50 points from 30 games, with 13 wins, 11 draws, and 6 losses. 

Peshmerga Hawler SC claimed the second position in the league standings, accumulating 49 points from 30 matches, with 13 victories, 10 draws, and 7 losses.

The Kurdistan Premier League was first held in 2006-2007 and is overseen by the Kurdistan Football Association.
