Kurdish Art Exhibition Held in Welsh Parliament

From April 6 to May 18, the Kurdish All Wales Association has organized an exhibition of Kurdish art in the Pierhead Futures Gallery in the Welsh parliament in Cardiff, sponsored by Welsh members of parliament Heledd Fychan and Darren Millar.

“The exhibition brings together the works of twenty highly acclaimed Kurdish artists, hailing from Canada, America, Europe, and Central Kurdistan,” Project Director Alan Deelan said in a public statement.

“Inspired by the vivid imagery found within the verses of Abdullah Goran, one of the Kurdish nation’s most eminent poets, these artists weave a tapestry of creativity that resonates across continents,” he added.

“Much like Welsh and other European bards who have shaped the language of their nations, Goran’s influence on Kurdish culture is profound,” he continued.“Through the lens of Goran’s verses, these artists present a diverse array of visual interpretations, creating a dialogue between the poetic traditions of Kurdistan and the broader literary influences that have shaped cultures worldwide.”

Historically, both Wales and Kurdistan have experienced struggles for self-governance and independence.

Welsh politicians and lawmakers have occasionally voiced solidarity with Kurdish aspirations for self-determination and human rights.
