PM Barzani Announces KRG’s First E-Visa Portal

ERBIL (Kurdistan Chronicle) — Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday announced the Kurdistan Region’s first E-visa portal as part of his government’s plan to develop KRG into a digital government powerhouse by the end of 2025.

“I’m pleased to announce the launch of the KRG’s first e-Visa portal (http://visit.gov.krd), in line with our promise to become a fully digital government by the end of 2025,” PM Barzani wrote on Twitter.

The new paperless portal allows visitors to apply for visas online, helping to boost tourism and foreign investment in the Kurdistan Region. Several other systems have been developed with e-Visa to improve border security and improve public services to the citizens and foreign visitors.

“E-Visa is among many services that this cabinet has introduced to improve public services, citizen satisfaction and aid the ease of doing business in Kurdistan. More announcements will be made over the next few months,” the prime minister added.

He thanked the KRG’s Ministry of Interior for prioritizing digital services and the Department of Information Technology for their commitment to the KRG’s Digital Transformation agenda.

While the Department of Information Technology of the Kurdistan Region is working to digitalize several other services, a KRG statement says that more such announcements will be made over the next few months.
